Dear Friends,

Our beloved son, Devin Corkrum Derby, died Dec. 13, 2004 as a result of a catastrophic single car accident on Nov. 28, 2004. We would like to reflect on Devin's death and the friendship shown to us during this time.

As 4th generation descendant of Corkrum Ranch founder Uriah Corkrum, Devin returned in 1999 to his ranch roots and helped spearhead the development of Spring Valley's outstanding Estate wines.

Devin was instrumental in making the wine and producing the labels.  He also had our flagship 2003 Uriah and 2003 Frederick blends ready to go; and they very well may be our best ever!

The secret to Devin's success as our winemaker was stated simply in his own laconic words, "Take a superior grape and don't screw it up!"  Devin now holds a special place in the history of Spring Valley.  With renewed dedication to the memory of Devin, we will continue this pursuit of excellence.

Thank you for all the compassion you have shown to us through prayers, visits, smiles, words and cards, for everything you did to console our hearts, we are grateful.

Devin was committed to the wine and we are committed to continue the legacy.

Best Regards,

Shari and Dean Derby
